Caring for members and friends is our purview and we facilitate responding to the needs of the congregation to the extent that we are aware of such needs. Our resources for this response include lists of volunteers who will drive, deliver meals, send cards, make phone calls, etc. when asked. We have divided the directory into “Care Lists” and assigned individuals to be point persons for each Care List. Our hope is that all individual Sojourners are remembered and helped in times of need.
The Pastoral Team will notify us if we can help to garner assistance when individual needs arise. Caring for members and friends includes praying by the Prayer Team, which is a separate group of volunteers who welcome prayer requests and respond through personal prayer.
For memorials, after the pastor has met with the family, we will contact a designated family member and assist with greeters and coffee/tea service for any reception that may be held at Sojourners.
Through the years we have endeavored to keep the freezer at church stocked with meals that can be delivered to folks in need. This tradition of “Sacred Casseroles” is valued and ongoing.
Please let us know if you would like to volunteer to be a driver, to deliver meals or refreshments for special occasions, to send cards, or make calls when needs arise. We are always hoping for more to become involved in this ministry however possible. Additionally, new greeters are always needed. Contact our chair at: mpc@sojourners-ucc.org
